This page contains links to tools that we commonly use and suggest our clients use.AVG Antivirus - AVG is, in my opinion, one of the best antivirus programs available. It is available free to private, non-commercial, single-home computer users. It has a very reliable antivirus scanning engine, which scans resident memory, email messages, and hard disks. It also has a scheduler which will automatically scan your computer for viruses as well as update the virus definitions. This program is highly recommended for home users. AVG also offers a Professional edition for a small fee that adds features. This version is mainly for business and other non-home users. AdawareSE - Ad-Aware Personal provides advanced protection from known data-mining, aggressive advertising, Trojans, dialers, malware, browser hijackers, and tracking components. This software is downloadable free of charge. Lavasoft also offers a Professional version that will scan your computer at a scheduled time at user selected intervals. The free edition must be manually started. Zone Alarm - Zone Alarm is an easy to use firewall that blocks hackers and other unknown threats from penetrating your computer system. It effectively blocks all access attempts to your computer unless you have given it explicit acceptance for access Another highly recommended tool for home users.. Zone Alarm is for non-commercial home users only. Zone Labs offers multiple versions of Zone Alarm all with different features. RealVNC - RealVNC is a VNC (Virtual Network Computing) client/server program that we use to remotely support our clients. The edition with limited features is available for download free of charge. Advanced System Optimizer - Advanced System Optimizer is a compilation of tools that we often use when a client claims that their computer is running slowly. It contains many useful tools such as a Registry Scanner and Fixer, and a Registry Optimizer. This utility is not free, but we feel it is worth the $39.99. SpeedFan - SpeedFan is heat sensor tool that I commonly use in the event that I suspect the computer is overheating. It is freely available for download to all users. (Temperature monitor probes, such as this are not always accurate.) |
